Been there. It will take time but basically you have relearn how to sleep.

Some tips. No phone, tv/ movies, get comfy in bed, have everything you need, read a book or something, be consistant as possible with the time when going to bed and waking up.

I will get to the point of drifting off then wake up in a start

Exercise. Same bedtime daily. No phone. Meditation... focused breathing Basically tire yourself with sober activities during the day for good natural sleep. It takes about a month for perfection.

Get in your favorite sleeping position then start at 100 and start counting backwards. I start at different spots every night. It may be your doctor can give you something to stop the jerking awake if it gets to be you can't get past that. You have to get sleep . Talk to the doctor if nothing else works. Make sure he knows of your addiction to alcohol so he knows what not to give you. No shame in letting your doctor in on things and letting him help you out.

Guided sleep meditation helped me. Jason Stephen’s is my favorite guide.

Drink lots of camomile tea and do a sleep countdown mediation! I know it helped me in early recovery.

Yes, it's tough. Better bedtime habits others suggested already helped a lot and I did get an rx from my Dr, who is aware I'm getting sober and was very understanding and helpful.
