Is anyone else sad? I know it seems like a dumb question. It feels like a terminal illness. It's more than just sadness, I know that. It's exhausting. I havent enjoyed a real smile since 2019.
Yep. All the time. Depression is hard. But I just try to work on myself, do things I like to do and hope with time it gets better. I see small progress over the last few months and that's what keeps me going.
Every day. I’ve been building my coping skills and my “toolkit” to help get me through it. Most important thing is to not lose sight of how far you’ve come and to accept that some things can’t be changed. I keep beating myself up for my sins when I was using. Things I can’t change and just replay over and over. But gradually they start to hurt less and become like clouds rolling by. It takes constant practice and I don’t always get it right but I’m better than the person I was a day/week/month/year ago, and if I have nothing else I work from there. Keep your head up and be good to yourself
Nothing wrong with being sad, but 2+ years is a long time. What’s the reason for your sadness? Did you lose someone? Or Covid?
It’s a hard time Annie
All the time. But be gentle with yourself, the past two years have not been normal for anyone and has made isolation and loneliness so much worse
Hey Annie just look at my mug shot it will have you laughing your b-utt off. Lol:rofl:

Hi Annie, I can definitely relate to that feeling of sadness. One thing that has really helped me is looking for joy. Rob Bell’s An Introduction to Joy on YouTube is awesome in honing this skill, and the talk is entertaining. Sending you a hug and some peace.
Every day my dear, best wishes for you
Same but working on it. I don’t know about you but finding how to fill this whole inside is one heck of a journey.
It's taken me awhile to get a smile out as well. Even looking in the mirror was a challenge. But slowly I'm starting to get some joy back, I ran into an old therapist and we were chatting and she said she was so happy to see a smile on me again. It gave me a confidence that I am where I need to be just for now. Keep your head up champ
I fight with sadness too...especially this time of year. Being without a companion is difficult too. I try to write down several things I am grateful for everyday. Sometimes you just have to force yourself to look at the bright side of things...to force a new habit. When I was on opioids, there was always this rollercoaster of emotions, but I had that long drawn out feel good buzz. Only it took more and more pills to keep that feeling at a certain level. So now, I try to stay close to God. You know one of the sentences in the Serenity Prayer that goes, "that I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next... I try to remind myself that we just get snippets of happiness here on earth. Our real joy is not until we die and go to Heaven...for all of those that believe that. I find that my days that I just ask God to help me follow His will for the day....the days are soooo much better. I stop trying to run my life, because I just seem to screw it up when I don't ask for God's direction.
I have felt sad for over 11 years ( ever since my son died on his 29 th birthday). I seriously believe that I cannot ever feel happiness again. If I can feel content, that is what I will strive for. Sadness kept me drunk for many years.
I lost my 9yo daughter 6 years ago so I know EXACTLY what you mean! I don’t think I’ve stopped drugging since. I start rehab Monday. Hopefully I’ll gain a better outlet because this isn’t it anymore. We’re stronger than we know!
I wish you the very best of luck in the future. A child is not suppose to die before a parent.
