Is it possible to meet a woman who is also sober?
You’re right thanks
You should ask yourself if you can keep a sober woman if you find one. Are you a healthy person for someone else?
"Try church for dating not AA". Hahaha. Right. Like church people aren't "broken".
How about just be healthy and sober, be yourself, get out and be social in AA or church, whichever blows your hair back, and see what happens? I wouldn't consider AA a place for dating, but I also don't think it's a bad place to make social connections. After all, that's how dating starts, right? The worst thing a guy can do is approach every wolan as a possible date, that's just gross.
Just be cool ,and make friends. Let things happen organically and not forced. Until then, make sure you have positive things to offer her when you find her.
Yes it’s totally possible to meet a sober person and date them. But it’s also possible to meet someone who drinks socially and or smokes weed and for you to stay sober and be happy about it. But probably not in early sobriety. Normal people don’t center their lives around drugs and alcohol - don’t date anyone who does. If you are spiritually fit your sobriety becomes so good that it doesn’t matter what other people do because you will be protected.
Here’s the best advise that I can give. You become the person who attracts the person you deserve. It’s an inside job.
Thanks heather. Just new to this stuff
I’m very new to recovery. 22 days sober
Thank you
Focus on taking care of you and expect the unexpected rather than looking.
Thank you. Of course I am focused on me. I’ was simply just curious about the possibility of finding a sober woman. I’ve never tried and was curious
They’re out there. Many recovered addicts. I had to break off a four year relationship because she would not get sober. Not worried about getting into another, but have a number of friendships with recovered alcoholic females and that’s fine with me for now.
It’s possible, but difficult. I’ve been trying for a couple years and it’s not easy.
Congrats on your days, for now I’d focus on them and the future will work it’s self out. It’s lonely, but we’re sober.
Thank you
I met the man that I had been praying for in sobriety. I wouldn’t have met him anywhere else. Together we know the struggle and face it with humility and compassion. It will come when you least expect it if you continue to work on yourself and put yourself in positive places and with positive things.
Awesome!
It's definitely possible. I'd recommend having a deep romance with self. That energy you provide to your mind and body will radiate. That alone will attract those who deserve it. Don't seek them, try to let them seek you
Anything is possible in sobriety. I recommend (as do so many others with time under their belt) to not get into a serious relationship within the first year of sobriety on both sides. A lot of times if one relapses in early recovery, the other may follow. Focus on your recovery first and foremost. When I got sober I took FOUR years to myself and really got to know myself without being high. Not to say I didn't have the casual f-buddy friends here and there, but I always communicated that I did not want a serious relationship. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. I also had a lot of other underlying things to work on, like, managing my chronic pain, severe depression, PTSD, panic disorder. However, now, after 11 years of sobriety, I am happily married and have a family of my own. Take the time to love, respect, and truly know yourself. All else will fall in to place.
Thank you. You’re post was real and helped me
Sure it is. May I ask how much sobriety time you have?
I don't recommend that people get into relationships in early sobriety.
We have too much garbage going on inside of us that has to be cleaned up.
Drinking was but a symptom of our problem. We have to get down to causes and conditions first.
I have a whole boat load of stories that I could tell you about mistakes I made in that area before I got sober and stayed sober for any length of time. Some involved women that I actually met in AA in early sobriety.
Big mistake!
