Is it time?

Once again I feel like I need to reconsider a completely sober lifestyle. I am a weekend drinker (warrior) and have been since college. Some weekends I take a break but the next it’s excessive. I’m starting to not remember things and the hangover ugh. Anyone have similar experiences and suggestions?

Most definitely me and a friend were discussing that.

Thanks what did the convo entail ??

Moderation doesn't work for me. I've tried and failed many times. If people mock your sobriety, they're not real friends

Listen to podcast “sober awkward” start at the beginning (I liked Vic and Lucy much more than Vic and harmish)

Experience? Yeah , it’s not like to get better - it’s progressive, it’s likely to gradually get worse until it ruins your life. And then, it’s very very hard to quit.

Thanks everyone. I will certainly listen. Like many it’s a difficult situation. Relationships have ended and I’m thinking it’s a contributor.

Some people can do this, some people can’t. We can’t. We can’t go crazy on the weekend and be normal during the week. Our bodies and brains don’t even recover that quickly.
This app and AA may help.

Thanks Hilary. I’m thinking it’s no longer possible.

Yea, I keep trying too. It’s not working for me either. I’m trying.

I can’t tell you how many times I drank and couldn’t remember anything after a certain point. It was awful and embarrassing as well as the terrible hangovers of course. I absolutely hated the tremors. It might have taken me 5 minutes to put on a pair of earrings sometimes. It sucked. Weekends are hard but I just do my best to distract myself by getting out of the house, reading a book, whatever. I’m living a sober, tremor free life now and it’s so worth it. It’s a rough road but you can do it!

As the big book tells us, this is a self diagnosed disease. For me moderation does not work. Complete abstinence, is what has given me a happy, joyous, and free life.
