Is Physical Activity an Effective tool in Recovery?

Many people have a different outlook on physical activity, some enjoy it and some do not. In recovery, staying active could be an effective tool. Physical activity does not have to be a full workout but can be walked around the neighborhood, going to advance class and more.

I have found that in the morning going on a jog around the neighborhood helps me get a jumpstart to my day, wakes me up and keeps me motivated to complete all the other tasks and goals I have set out for the day.

Quick Question! What’s your take on physical activity? Is it effective in your life?

It helps clear my mind,

Lift every morning before work. And I’ve been doing it since the end of July. It’s paid a huge dividend in my emotional sobriety

Physical activity was a big part of my life before I began drinking. Then I began to think if I drank I would only have to work out more to detox my body, not knowing what I know now. That it only makes it worse because of the poison I had been constantly consuming the night before or even to to early morning hours. Now sober, it's going to be 18 months on Feb. 5th, I have been able to get back to my first love of long distance running & hiking. I used to be a marathon runner🤫. Slowly but surely I'll get to do another before I turn 40 & maybe even get to accomplish my dream of doing an Ironman in Hawaii.
In essence Physical activity is a very effective tool to help one with the discipline to maintain a healthy diet, get back to a routine of a sort & a mood enhancer. Walk, jog or run the point is to get your body moving again. We aren't getting any younger, so move it or lose it!
