Is sleeping all the time something ya’ll deal with in

Is sleeping all the time something ya’ll deal with in sobriety? I know after about two weeks I have a drop in energy (when I quit before that happened too) but I’m at 40 days now and I feel like I sleep allll the time. And I genuinely look forward to it. I enjoy my job, come home, and then think “ok, done!” and either go to sleep or distract myself till I can. Weird?

There is definitely a good amount of time our bodies are recovering/healing. Physically & emotionally and many other ways. I know I have often been tired in early recovery. Our brains are pretty confused..hang in there. Sleep is oh so important......

That’s true. I feel like I should be past that point, but I know it’s all a process. I’m like the least patient person I know lol, so I get frustrated easily with my body and mind whenever they need time with anything :joy:

Have you ever met another alcoholic? Not gonna put patience at the top of our best qualities. Ha ha
That does come in time...and our bodies Heal in such different ways. I know my experiences definitely have varied from my Friends in recovery

I sleep SO MUCH. I have found that in sobriety I am an optimal 9/10 hour sleeper. If you give me 13 hours I will totally take it. :woman_shrugging:t3:

I don’t think I ever slept when I was drinking. Just pass out and feel more tired when I came to.

I probably only average 6-7 hours a night, but it’s the most restful wonderful sleep ever.

Yes. Very common. It took me about 9 months of clean time before I had the energy I needed. It will come though. Let the process play out!

Oh I so hate you guys! First, I get about 6 hours a nite M-F. Weekends I can sleep in a little more, but I go to sleep later and like my morning meetings. The real reason I hate you all is because this old body gets stiff if I lay in bed too long. After 7-8 hours I sound like tin man getting out of bed…squeak squeak :joy:. On a more serious note, just be sure you’re not sleeping away your feelings and feeling depressed. Contact someone and chat if that’s the case

I went through insomnia. I went through what you’re describing. And I feel like I’m finally on the other side of it all. I sleep from 11-5. I sleep solid. I have vivid and incredible dreams. On weekends I might lay back down until my kids get up, or I might enjoy the peace and quiet. But I definitely enjoy my routine.

I could sleep 10 hours a night too. When I wak e up, I am still tired. But, like Lee, I am older than a lot of you (in my 60's), so its hard to differentiate if its physical changes bc of no longer taking pills, or bc my body is just getting old. I'll never know😂. I agree with Lee on the point of look at yourself and decide, do you just love getting the rest? Or, Are you depressed and escaping? If that is the case, you need to talk with someone that can help you. Get some regular exercise (need to follow my own advice here). You will feel better for doing so.

Check out P.A.W.S. You could be experiencing this.

Oh my gosh I would be dead on 6 hours…

Yes! I still wake up early but man if you tell me I can go to bed at 7, I’ll be asleep before you can finish your sentence :joy:

For sure! I feel so refreshed I just can’t wait to do it again I guess? Lol

That’s a fair point! Also your tin man comment made me laugh, but I also read your second sentence as “…6 hours a night motherf*r” and not “Monday-Friday” and it’s just cracking me up :joy:

Yea, I wake up at 6:30 because I start work at 7 everyday, so I usually got to bed around 9:30. I’m all for the sleep in when I can.

I have no idea how to use this app

But yes I'm the same way. Before when I was working it was impossible for me to be on a normal sleep cycle in the first place since I worked overnight doubles serving so I'd sleep from 7am til I had to get up for my next shift..when I was using id sleep from 7am til 2 or 3 get up,use IF I COULD AND WASNT WAITING MOFOs are never consistent..go to work...that place was a whole lot stress on top of that job.
What I'm getting at is just me personally I know I have PTSD on top of some tramatic experience aswell as mental health issues Im working on addressing and at this point in time,I'm not currently working but Im financially stable. I sleep way way too much. This morning I had an apt I missed it bc I woke up and still turned off my alarm and went back to sleep. I spilt soda all over my floor and left it for hours all the treatment doctors say it's normal and should fade it eventually..I fell asleep around midnight and slept til 3 13 hours...and if I get up, go to a meeting, maybe the store I go home and sleep for another two or three hours.. It even throws off my medication cycle which reeks havoc when I need to be somewhere for medical reasons or such things. I used to be just nod off sleep and wake, then go raight to whatever I did at that time. Lately I'm sitting in my head waiting to sleep. Working on caffeine .cuz I had drank all Halloween and November and got introuble for drug tests bc my meds and allcohol don't mix well. So it's been almost two weeks, two weeks tomorrow no alcohol..which I used as a clutch aswell for sleep.,but yea they say my energy will come back too but I have no motivation..if they tell me if I don't go to this group I won't get my meds then I'll make sure my but goes but they're easy on me. I did good though. I been clean off opiate h for almost 6months,coke almost 3 alcohol almost 2 weeks so maybe that's why..I only have group three times a week one hour each and then one on one and pee test so I really need to push thru it even more. I barely go to outside a.a or n.a meetings though. I prefer the a.a meetings due to the closeness and the n.a location I don't like cuz that's near where I would pick up and I find it harder for me..there's a laundrymatt I'd used to go pick up at and I hate having to go there for change for laundry but I had to about a month ago due to banks and stores not giving change for non banking members and stores don't have them so the laundrymatt has a change machine I went in and used..but ever since I been having bad cravings and the memories I just need them gone out of my head. Anyway I'm new here. This is my first post .I would have made a new one but I have no clue how to do that I couldn't figure it out. So I'm sorry to post such a long A response on here but as yours get to know me, you'll know when I feel like sharing and when I don't lol

And wow my post got denied bc I used the word buT yet I can put coke as long as we all know I'm not drinking it lol.i got it
