Is the accomplishment a ledge or a leaping board

An organization that helps people rebuild their lives where I've volunteered for over 10 years had a graduation last night. Ten men graduated from the year long program and all had new or better jobs lined up. The CEO of the organization spoke and asked if this accomplishment was a ledge where some would fall and look back on this night as a highpoint and others would use the graduation as a leaping board to bigger and better things. It really made me think about my milestones - sobriety, retirement, turning 62 - how I view those things, and what I can do better to make them all leaping boards instead of cliffs.
