Is this mainly for alcoholics? Just started checking this out and haven’t seen any posts about ppl struggling with drug addiction or even mental health issues….am I in the wrong place?

Oh no. Addiction is addiction. We all have mental health issues to some degree or another, not to mention PTSD. Welcome. I’m new here too.

Hey Samantha! I believe addictions have a mental, spiritual, and physical component to to it. For me it started in my mind and spirit. I escaped my feelings by numbing them with drinking/drugging and other compulsive behaviors that temporarily blocked me from feeling what I didn’t want to feel. Long term recovery is about addressing all of this so we learn how to live life on life’s terms without needing to medicate ourselves. Hope this helps!

Addiction comes in many flavors but at the end of the day, we all struggle with very similar issues regardless of our drug of choice. And many of us are "dual diagnosis", we are addicts but have other mental health issues. I cannot speak for others but I can share my experiences. I couldn't properly deal with my mental health issues until I dealt with my addiction. Just something to ponder. Keep talking and keep asking for help. None of us stays sober alone.
