It gets so frustrating dealing with the VA trying to get help. Takes a week and a half to get a call back to get an appointment to talk to someone. That appointment is just over another week away. Go to that appointment for an evaluation and am told that I would be recommended for an outpatient program and expect a call soon. A week later I get a call. The call schedules me for another evaluation with IOP, this one 3 weeks away. It's this sort of thing with this VA that has drove me to drink in the past. So frustrating!

Is there a VA clinic you can pop into?

A lot of times they’re faster to get you into the system.

Hi

Hi

They do have a walkin clinic but it doesn't speed up this process. Thanks though.

I’m finishing up a 90 day inpatient program at Augusta, GA VAMC Dom. I’ve been to 15 ( impatient and IOP combined) since 2010. The Dublin, Ga, Tuscaloosa, Al and the Tuskegee, Al are the best ones. Ask for them by name and see if that works. I had to go to a 17 day civilian rehab in Mississippi, and by the time I was done there, my bed at the Augusta VA was ready. The Agusta, GA VA Dom is a joke. It’s more like a half way house for homeless vets. They use to send us to Bradford in Warrior, Alabama. Very nice and bougie accommodations.. Now that the VA has the domiciliary, they will not authorize community care treatment. You are to go to one of their DOMS.
What state are you in?

I know the pain. I’m truly sorry you’re having to deal with this.

I'm in Texas...the South Texas VA. Was in Lexington KY and the VA there was much easier to deal with and much quicker.
