It’s a trip how much I’ve changed in these 9 months that I’ve been clean/sober. I’ve managed to stay away from Hollywood but Yesterday I drove into the city with a sober buddy and im ashamed of how out of control I had become. I was angry that I was there with my sober friend and wanted to be seen by my old using buddies, in hopes that they would help me run away. Idk it was psychotic and crazy -far out! I was practically jumping out of the moving car. I’m so ashamed of how I can still go from 0-100… real quick. I honestly don’t ever want to drive past Hollywood or anywhere near that damn city. It’s just sad.
Think your higher power you had a sober buddy with you sounds like you might owe that person and a men's. I too went back recently to my old hometown where I grew up in did a lot of dirt. it triggered all kinds of memories and stupid things that I did in that town. Thankfully I have enough time under my belt to where I could handle these things but kudos for you for going in to a situation like that with somebody you owe your sobriety to that person always be aware of that and then we cannot do this alone but together we can
Yeah. Those dam people, places and things get us every time. At least you didn’t pick up and that’s all that matters. Good job. Live and learn.
Great job!!! It takes s strong person to stay sober
I’m so glad you made it!!
I have a camping trip every year in November that was where I relapsed the last time in 2019. I recently told everyone to have fun. I’m not even going to try this year.
It's scary how quick we can go back in our addiction. Do detox and rehab, moved to IOP and in an Uber 5 minutes later. Or go to three AA meetings and then OD two hours later. Or leave hospital and ten minutes later, I have a needle in my arm. No matter the length of time, our demons try to seduce us back to the misery and eventually our death. Nothing external can get me sober, nothing external can keep me sober, it is an inside job.
