It’s been 2 weeks since I relapsed, and got a DUI. First thing I did was get a Sponsor the next day. Why does it sometimes take something drastic for us to fully realize how broken we are?

Because sometimes that’s what it takes for us to realize how desperately we need to take care of ourselves

Everybody’s rock bottom looks different and we will keep hitting those bottoms until we finally feel strong enough to do what it takes 🫶🏼

I also stayed in sobriety from a relapse and same day DUI. Don’t wonder why, we’re alcoholics and we drink, that drink just leads us to terrible places. This place must have been terrible enough where our desire to be sober was stronger than our desire to be drunk. I actually consider that day, now, to be one of the best days of my life because it finally got me off the roller coaster. I urge you to remember how you feel now and how you felt two weeks ago. How you’ll feel walking in and out of court when it comes. How it felt when/if people found out. That’s going to continuously keep you sober for another 15 minutes, another 3 hours, and another day. I promise that relapse won’t be the end of your life, but hopefully it can be the beginning.

I went through a hard time and racked up 3 DUI’s in 4 months. The last one I got was a week after I got out of rehab. Like, Allie N. Said, everybody’s rock bottom looks different. Keep finding tools/hobbies to keep you occupied, healthy, and sober.

Cause we are Children of Chaos and there is only one solution and that is making that decision to turn it all over. I knew I was growing when all of those bad things I focused on, became some of the biggest blessings in life because I could use those tragic moments to help others find a solution to this disease, it’s crazy but we all have our own path in this thing, My higher power has no limits, but my thinking does without that connection

Pain and trauma are great motivators. I am so glad that you went to a meeting and got a sponsor. You took the most important step in your life and the payoff will be tremendous.

Congratulations and keep moving forward.

That was beautifully said. Thank you!

Because sometime it takes is getting to our lowest point to start to sincerely look up for help
