I’m on day 7 but it feels like just year it was day 2. What has encouraged me the most is helping inspire others and let them know that they are far from alone. We are here to help each live better lives. To go through a weekend sober and see that you didn’t “miss out”. I always remember if drinking was so good I’d never want to stop. We have to stay sharp and always remember that by helping others you help yourself! Now go out there and inspire lol although you already have

Hey thanks for writing!! I love what you said about helping others, I think it’s important to have a sense of community or support and I’m so happy to find this app!! I’ve felt so isolated! Thank you for your kind words, and congrats on day 7! One day at a time :blush:

My wife says not to count the days but I love it you get immediate sense of accomplishment just by waking up. And thank you

She has a good point!! When you fixate on it it doesn’t feel like it moves along fast enough! I think for me I feel so good about waking up sober because usually I make myself so ill by how much I drink.

255 days off benzodiazepines 95 days off alcohol
9 days off cigarettes
I stopped everything cold turkey

Way to go!!! That’s really tough to stop cold turkey! How did you pull yourself through the mental turmoil?

I'm on about day 60. Gets better every day. Some days are harder than others. Stay present and in the moment. Best of luck on your journey

Idk. The alcohol and benzodiazepines were really hard. Adderall too, I always forget that one. I went to rehab for these 3 but I left after 3 nights. I regret leaving but that’s another story. Detoxing was really hard because I couldn’t take benzos to help w the alcohol withdrawals since I was coming off those as well. I finished detoxing at home. I was withdrawing for 3 weeks. What a nightmare that was.

Detoxing and treatment are like childbirth, you forget how much it hurts after the delivery.

Cigarettes are hard but it’s day 9 and I forget I’m quitting all day long. If you want something bad enough, you will find the strength to get there. :pray:t2:

Hailey all you have is today to worry about. Yesterday is over. Tomorrow isn’t promised. One day at a time. Baby steps. You are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Many new to recovery are resistant to programs like AA or SMART. Please, don’t be. You need connection to a group of people who used to be just like you and can guide you down the road towards recovery and happiness. Your addiction wants to keep you isolated. Don’t let it.

Awesome Craig, thanks for the insight. I’ll definitely reach out around me to find a support group I feel comfortable with!

Congrats on Day 2. Keep the positive mindset. You'll need it. It'll help you in your recovery.

Thank you Amanda!!

Sometimes I have to remind myself how shitty I feel and what a waste of time I am when I’m not sober. Then ill take a shower and go to bed = wake up so happy
