It’s okay to start over?

So glad to have found this app. I’m starting back my recovery yet again and working my steps, I don’t think I’ve ever fully accepted I will never have another drink again til now. I always thought maybe someday I’ll have it under control again. I fool myself every time! I’m 3 weeks sober today and motivated to find a sober community outside of my meetings!

takes great courage to start over. I had so many white key tags in my sock drawer at home from starting over that when my homegroup ran out of them, I brought back a bunch until the new order came in. Keep coming back no matter what.:muscle:

Good job! Remember that there is no middle of the road solution, so dive into your recovery!

Willingness is the Achilles’ Heel of addiction so go all in on your recovery and be sure to work the program and practice the principles as a design for living.

It works if you work it, God bless!:pray:

It’s always ok to start over. Just remember we don’t always get the chance to start over. Many die before they get a chance to start again.
You don’t have to quit drinking forever. Just don’t drink today. Just for today.
One day at a time.

It's OK to start over all it is it's part of your story now.
Just find a home group did support group. Go to meetings like you said Solid foundation in sponsor Start working the steps And good phone list Where we have a problem. I know that phone's heavy just call somebody someone off your support list If not you have big family here to Support you here If you need to text me I'll talk to you just one alcoholic help in another.

Glad that you are here Cassidee! Congrats on 3 weeks. Congrats on getting back up when life knocks you down.

Congrats! Iv started over 18 times. I even went a year once. You will get it when it’s your time. Keep trying

Oh how I can relate to this!! I was so reluctant to accept that there was something in this world I could not control. And to make matters worse this predicament somehow made me a lesser human. I had to completely squash the idea that I could ever drink like a normal person. And along the way I learned that I wasn’t less than but more than! “Normal” people don’t get to experience the things we do!!! It is definitely OK to start over Cassidee!!

It's always OK to start over. As long as slips don't turn into slides.

We are here for you. Stay connected.

Congratulations on three weeks! Alcohol is really nothing more than a destructive and addictive poison that we were brainwashed to believe had some benefit (all are illusions). I'm glad you're here, and never want that stuff in me again for sure.

Hello from Seattle Washington

Congrats and welcome. That's your ego talking. I'm 9 years sober and still have those "I can control it" thoughts (albeit not as often anymore). One thing that helps me with that is to remember that Im literally allergic to alcohol. Someone who is deadly allergic to shellfish would never think "I'm sure I can control this time and won't get really sick or die if I eat this lobster" lol

I'm in agreement that your DRINKING AND USING CAREER HAS BEEN RUINED AND RECOVERY HAS BECOME REALLY PERSONAL FOR YOU. I got sober in my 20s and did 40 MONTHS OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT. And was diagnosed as a middle stage wet brain Alcoholic with a Drug problem. Today I'm in year 36 AND very GRATEFUL THAT I MADE A COMMITMENT TO MY SOBRIETY WAY BACK THEN. SOBRIETY/RECOVERY IS NOT PUNISHMENT IT IS A LIFESTYLE CHANGE THAT WORKS FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE. AND IT CAN WORK FOR YOU

Yes it is !!!:heart::pray:
