It’s so hard to stay positive when you feel like everything around you is falling apart. What’s even worse is having to differentiate between “family” and your real family. It sucks not being accepted for who you are, and also when people can’t let go of the past…
Time is the great healer. Keep proving to them you’re a new you. Be patient, some we addicts have a hard time with. One day is all that matters. Damage from our past takes time. Keep hanging in there.
Facts. This is so true. At this point I’m starting to realize we have to accept ourselves first. This transformation and new life change starts with the person in the mirror first. And frankly as far as I’m concerned anyone that doesn’t believe or care for it and won’t respect that, can kick rocks.
Yep! I am working on! But not easy. Thank you for feedback
Be nice if I out this town for awhile so I can focus myself.
Nothing I can say
But the thing is not everyone has knowledge of what I went through and I’m even afraid to speak out and let it be known because I feel ashamed of it.
I’ve accepted myself it’s just some people look at an addict or someone who’s mentally ill as just that and never give any credit.
Well, secrets keep us using. Some point in future you really should come clean. Can’t expect others to forget and forgive if they don’t know or understand. I know it sounds simple. Yet it’s a bullet you gotta bite down if you expect them to understand.
The only person who doesn’t really know is my mother and she still holds onto stuff from when I’m 15, and we don’t have a great relationship as it is and she isn’t even around enough to know. I haven’t seen her enough for her to notice. She thinks all addicts should be condemned off the rip so there is no real reasoning there. I just posted this to express my feelings. I’m not using now, and haven’t been for a decent amount of time. Just expressing my feelings is enough to keep me from feeling tempted to use.
That’s pretty cool. Keep venting. You’re gonna be fine if you do. Keep on that sober path and don’t take anything serious but your recovery. Everything works out if you do. Without it nothing else will matter.
And congratulations on those hard earned 3 months. You being the miracle. One day is all that counts.
Your past doesn’t define you. It will take time but, Move past the shame. Share your past when you are ready to who is important in your life and doesn’t judge you. It’s about who you are today and who you want to be moving forward. You have to forgive your self first Liz. Continue to make good choices and who ever is in your life that has a negative impact on you and those who judge you have no place in your life. You have to change your routine. Start new hobbies. Afternoon 25 years of marriage. My wife decided she no longer wanted to be married. I started running, hiking, riding bikes and working out with my sons. That saved my life. I am 280 days Alcohol Free today. I’ve never felt better or more clear headed. You got this Liz

Staying sober and working the steps is the answer today. Sounds like your doing that. We find in time that it is “an inside job”. Acceptance is mine to find, nobody else’s. Dealing with the past is mine to do, nobody else’s. The key for me is to just not pic up one day at a time. That allows me to build a track record with my HP and those around me. In time it will all improve. Attraction rather than promotion.
I know it’s hard. For some people it takes a lot of time living the right way and some divine intervention before their opinions of us can begin to change. I found some motivation in proving the doubters wrong. Keep doing the next right thing Liz and keep your head up!!
