It took awhile to get an appointment, but I finally had an Outpatient Rehab Evaluation today.
I understand what benzo’s are and how they effect you ( almost exactly like alcohol ). I’ve had depression and anxiety issues much longer than I have had alcohol issues.
I’ve also had sleep issues since I was a teen.
It’s long been my goal to not have to take benzo’s or sleeping meds, but when I start to wean off of them with my doctor, I really start to struggle with sleep and anxiety.

I’m surprised that I was told that I could not be accepted as a patient as long as I’m prescribed either sleeping meds or benzo’s

There are many rehab rules but if you really search and share like your doing you will find solutions. I promise. I’m two months clean and I thought I was going to have to pick up so I could be accepted to rehab and I looked so much that I finally found one exactly like I wanted trust me don’t give up I promise you that you don’t have to feel like you don’t have options. I can tell you from personal experience.

So I’ve seen on other posts that you are open to meetings. First, keep that up while you figure this stuff out. If you can stay sober and get to a lot of meetings, I can almost guarantee that your anxiety will start to decrease.

There is no doubt that drinking elevates my anxiety.

I am open to meetings. I honestly find them calming and they help center me. I’m just having a hard time finding the right ones. There is a long gap of time from the morning and the afternoon meetings in my area. That’s the time that I am able to go. The one I go to the majority of the time os filled mostly with people who are there because of a judge’s order. They are there to get their time in and that’s it.

I will keep looking.
