So I was told if I want different, I had to do different. The discord in my life was more than I could take. But it's hard to get away from it when it's coming from the people you care about most. But to save my life, I had to give it up. 3 weeks ago I left my father and my 5 year relationship, and what few 'friends' I had left. I can't expect to stay clean and sober when everyone around me is it's still set on it. So, new town, new job, new me. My new boss is an amazing Christian man and he and his family are positive and encouraging influences. So while I still miss the people I once held dear, I'm slowly growing a much healthier circle of people who truly believe in me and want me to succeed. Best decision I've ever made.
Sometimes that’s just what you need to do. I’ve given up and left family because of toxicity and I actually got a lot of slack for it because people say it’s family. They don’t understand how much that family member affected you in your life and simply just cutting them off made a huge difference and a huge weight off your shoulders.. I applaud you for taking that huge step. I know it was a lot.
Oh, and the fact that you had to identify that bittersweet Symphony was the verve made me sad.. people should just automatically know that lol
You may have to get new people. People, places and things will get us every time. Recovering addict need to stay clear of people that are in active addiction
You did the right thing. Don't look back.
Growing up in the 90s I completely agree. But for those that don't know, they can have an opportunity to experience one of it's timeless classics.
It hurt beyond words, but I couldn't agree more. I can't change others, only myself.
