I need to start meetings and find a community. I’m doing this alone and it hasn’t worked yet.

Head to a meeting. AA is very welcoming and not scary. I remember it was hard for me to walk in the first time. It was also a little overwhelming because everyone was so welcoming. If asked, raise your hand if they ask if it is anyone's first meeting. If so, they'll probably do a "first step" meeting and you'll hear all about what brought others to the rooms and they will share their own experience, strength, and hope. Hope is important because we can and do get better.

Also, if you're a Reddit person, the stop drinking sub is one of the kindest and understanding places on the internet.

Finally, because I'm long winded and want to help, here's a link to a few tips someone offers for going to your first meeting.

Be well, internet stranger.

Thanks a ton. I’m look for one near me to join when I can. I may try zoom. I just need someone to talk to through this time. The anxiety and worrying is horrible!
