Its weird being a night shifter on your days off. Yesterday I slept until 6pm. It's almost one am right now . Everyone is in bed, noone is outside and I'm thinking about coffee.
I'm about to be a nightshifter too! I switch Friday to NOC. Ill be feeling your pain soon.
That first month of the switch over is going to be hard. Make sure you stay awake . I almost fell asleep driving.
I did night shift for 2.5 years. 12 hr shifts four nights a week. It was ok at first but was one of my main reasons for relapse after 4 years sober. I highly recommend anyone in recovery to stay away from it if possible. The isolation, the off schedule is not natural for our circadian rhythm...it tore me up mentally and physically honestly.
I know what that's all about! I am an RN and I work the 6:45 pm- 7:15 am shift. It's torture some nights because there's so much wasted time and no recovery contact. I'm on the east coast so I do California Zoom meetings to kill some time. A 10 pm meeting there is 2 am for me. Try Hawaii too.....
I'm trying to get on first. I already talked to someone about it, but there is a wait list.
I really like the zoom meetings. There is always one going on. It's really convenient.
Thank you! That is especially useful as I do have a decent commute home.
It takes a lot out of you.
I feel that, that's why I had to do it for so long. I was new and didn't have seniority
