I've been sitting in the hospital with my grandmother for the past 6 hrs. Growing up, aside from my great gram, she was the biggest mother figure I had. Great gram passed away in 2015 at 103 yrs old. I was on shift as her caregiver when it happened.
Now I'm watching my grandmother dissolve and I'm not sure shes going to pull out of this. Since becoming sober I haven't wanted to go out and buy myself a case of beer and just drift away from everything so badly.
I know I need to stay present and clear minded so that I have every opportunity to do anything I can for her. It's just heart breaking and I'm not sure how to handle heartbreaking situations like this sober yet.

I feel ya. Yet, staying sober for her is the best gift you can give. I’m kind of the same boat with 90 year old mother. It’s tough. Yet, they deserve our best. Hope you keep positive through this. Blessings your way.
