I've been sober 28 days tomorrow. Yesterday was the first time I've been truly tempted. It started with feeling a tiny bit of anxiety, and the thought came, "I could drink," to get rid of it. Which was my previous solution. I dismissed it, but it popped up quite a few times. What's scary too is that I felt I would give in, it would be so easy to. It was kind if like that part of my brain was overwriting why I am NOT drinking. I don't know if it's because it's been 28 days, therefore I'm better or cured, which I know without a doubt is not the case. Alcohol is so insidious. Upon waking, I was so relieved that I didn't, that early morning realization that you didn't drink is such a great feeling. My question: Does anyone else struggle with anxiety? How do you cope with cravings? TIA.

Since I quit drinking.. I surrendered everything to God … He took all my burdens and I rarely have anxiety!!!! I had horrible panic attacks!!! And depression .. didn’t want to get out of bed accept when I went to work .. but I also called in sick because of the anxiety and depression… once I surrendered, my whole life changed… that was 5 months ago …
That would be nice, but I'm an Buddhist and don't believe in a higher power. I go to Busshist recovery meetings, I didn't care for AA. thank you for replying anyway. Good luck🙂
