I've gone from someone that "needed" to go out on

Some raw truth: I've gone from someone that "needed" to go out on a Friday night no matter what, get drunk and laid to now someone that would rather enjoy the breeze blow across my body as i lay in bed by 8:30 with my pups. Thoroughly enjoying my bed, being home, peace and zero craziness. No more feeling of having to run away.

The freedom from being controlled by our addiction and impulses is one of the greatest gifts. I’m amazed at how peaceful the nights are at my house sitting on the couch listening to music with my cat.

What’s helped the change? Like besides stopping the addiction

Being away from alcohol has allowed me to be able to sit with myself, my feelings and thoughts and not run from them. Now I enjoy myself. I'm no longer attracted to toxic people and situations that prior I thought was "having a life" and being social.

And no more morning remorse, feeling like a failure, and planning the next trip to the liquor store. Sober is enough🥰
