This is just something I wanted to share that has helped me and for those that are wanting to start journaling but struggling to get started. Two things that have helped me the most -
-
Approach journaling as if you were talking to someone. What I’ve found effective is to pretend I’m sharing to someone I don’t know. I don’t particularly picture anyone but in my mind I’m sharing to someone that I don’t know so I know there will be no judgement and it’ll be a safe space.

If you don’t know where to start, start with small things, like how you’re feeling… for example
A. “Today I woke up feeling a little bit heavy, like with some sadness. I’m not entirely sure where this is coming from but if I had to place it I think it may be coming from…” and continue. B. “Today I’m feeling pretty good, I realized that I’ve been able to go out for a walk everyday for the last 4 days. When I go for a walk it helps me think and put things into perspective. For example, on my last walk I thought about how…” and continue.
I’m no professional but this has helped me get started and it may helps some of you as well.. I hope it does! Breaking down my emotions and feelings has help me understand where these emotions are coming from so in turn, I began to understand myself more.

and now I’m journaling everyday and I don’t even think about it, it’s part of my daily routine, like eating almost. There’s some apps out there that are really good. I’m trying a couple now and seeing what I like.
