Just 4 today

The sun hits the blinds in this house,
quiet, before the day really starts.
I’m not looking back at the steel city smoke
or the mountains I’ve yet to climb.
Just this one breath, and this one choice.
I spent too long counting the cost of yesterday,
but now? I’m just showing up for the hour.
I'll log into the session, open the books,
and keep my feet steady on the floor.
It’s not a marathon anymore; it’s just this moment.
And for the first time in a long time, I am free—JUST 4 TODAY.
