Just a really hard day

A couple of days ago I posted that I was 2 years sober. I was so happy.
I’m still sober. But I’m alone and traveling for work. I went to Whole Foods and grabbed a sparkling cider and I saw their beer and wine. I’ve been to liquor stores, walked down the aisles at the grocery store, and even bought liquor as gifts for friends.
But today. I don’t know what happened but today it really really hurt.
I had a not so great work day. That coupled with some really harsh realities about my family made me drop to the floor of my hotel room and now I can’t stop crying.

I know healing and sobriety are just not linear but I just wish the season didn’t hurt so much.

Sorry for the rant. I just needed to talk to people that understood. My wife tries so hard, my friends are so supportive. I’m so so fortunate but I just…hurt.

I was always taught that there’s healing in tears. It’s great your wife and friends are so supportive!

This too shall pass. Drinking will just add to your despair. Prayers sent

Great job for not taking the first drink, Dana! My experience is that my disease is always lurking and working in my brain. Anniversaries can be big triggers. Kudos for sharing your experience! I see strength & hope.
