Just got back from the Miami boat show. My first

Just got back from a long weekend at the Miami boat show. My first one sober! My husband and I have been going for 10 years, since it always falls on our anniversary. We went to a owners party, and everybody got drunk. Also went to a nice restaurant with friends, who all drank cocktails and bottles of wine. Won’t say it was easy to not sipping my husbands drink or having my own glass of wine, but it wasn’t super hard either. Only had to fall back on a breathing exercise once, and had a great time otherwise. Overall it was the best boat show experience ever, and today I’m just super proud I made it through the whole weekend without a glitch. Love my new sober life!

That’s awesome! Ice to be able to enjoy activities today without drinking. I don’t mind being around drinking on occasions. I used to be the only one not drinking for years. However, this time around I’ve got many friends in AA, and my social life is much more balanced.
Funny hearing about the boat show from a visitor’s view. Living in South Florida for the past 41 years, the boat show has always been a pain in the as$ lol. The traffic and crowded restaurants are crazy during the boat show. Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you guys dropped a few $ to spur our economy. Now that you quit drinking, you probably spent a little less lol

The fu(king Catalina Wine Mixer!! lol Just don’t get overconfident. Exposure like that could kick off a mental relapse, which happens before a physical relapse. It happened to me. I was so proud of my self control that I celebrated by drinking the next day.

Oh so you are from Miami? Yes I understand, I’m not a happy resident when we have Sunfest here in WPB either haha. But we did quite a bit to boost your economy

Yes, I can see how that would happen. We can never let our guard down.

Thank you . I believe it’s not about strength though, but more about awareness. Every time my brain tried to start a pity party I double focused on the food, surroundings, and the people I was with. It all was much more fun without the booze for sure

Went to high school in Miami Beach, and lived on there for about 20 years. Eventually started a family and moved to Weston for the schools, parks, peace, etc. As a Florida resident you know it’s a give and take relationship with tourism. Overall, it’s a win! Glad you stayed sober and enjoyed it :peace_symbol:
