Just hit 60+ days for the 3rd time. I understand relapse is “part of recovery”, but it doesn’t make it easier. I have so much respect and empathy for people that deal with addiction. Chin up and just continue to move forward!
Keep it up. You can do this.
Are you part of a recovery group? If not I would recommend finding one. AA worked for me but there are several other options out there. Glad you are back up and moving forward.
Keep up the good work!!
Glad you’re sharing. Secrets and shame can kill us.
Relapse is definitely a hard plate to eat. I've done it to many times. However, the plus side is your still in the game and not taking the bench. Keep moving forward and own the day brotha.. you got this. You've already proved you can go X amount of days without it now just push pass that day and start a new streak.
But the point is, you keep getting back up and fighting the fight!! Congrats
3 times the charm. Keep it going
Relapse is not a part of recovery, it's a lack of recovery. This phrase gives newbies the idea they can go out & come back whenever they want. Unfortunately not all make it back. Many die.
Relapse does happen to some. They're always welcomed back with open arms & never judged. But it should never be dismissed as just part of the journey.
60 days is a big deal, I hope you keep it up. A recovery program with others makes this journey easier. Things may get difficult along the way, but life will definitely get better. Best of luck on your journey.
Hey congratulations on 60 days. For the third time? I get that. I've been there. If only I had known back then what I know now and had been willing to listen to people that had been there before me I would have saved myself a lot of trouble.
You stated something about relapse being part of recovery. Relapse is not truly part of recovery. Relapse is a consequence of not having a solid plan of action in place. I've noticed a lot of people on Loosid don't really have a solid plan in place other than their cell phone and this app. That's why they can't stay sober for significant period of time. I'm afraid that's not really a solid plan of recovery. It only offers support.
Drinking or drugging was only a symptom of our problem. We have to get down to causes and conditions. In the program of Alcoholics Anonymous we have the 12 steps which create a total transformation of our lives.
Think of it this way. When you take a drunken horse thief and get the horse thief sober, what do you have left? A sober horse thief.
Agree to disagree here. Thanks for the support.
Agree to disagree. Ive had years of sobriety. Everything u said, i have heard and it means alot. I appreciate the support.
Congratulations on 60 days! My longest was 105 days. Today I two weeks sober, have a great support system, and attend meetings twice a day. Keep up the good work!
I’m RIgHT with ya my friend….just passed day 90 after my 4th relapse. I’m amazed by those who DONT relapse and who take only one white chip. And I HAVE worked through all 12 steps with my amazing, beautiful sponsor and a home group and….with each relapse…..just started listening WAY too much to my little alcoholic brain who wants to tell me I’m not REALLY an alcoholic. I’m definitely picking up the phone and calling other AA’s a LOT more this time and trying to stay in service however I can. Anyway…..good luck staying on this easier, happier path my friend! Take care!
Nice work! There is only the present
This is so true! One has to be willing to as more steps to their recovery to avoid repeated relapse’s. Just my opinion.
Relapse is not part of recovery.
Good thing you are around Steve, I wouldnt have made it through my day without your opinion. Funny how u and the other couple dipshits were more concerned with something u disagreed with in my post rather than support someone.
You're welcome
