You got this Ellie!!! I literally just started not even a day yet but we got this!!!

I'm here if you need to chat.

It’s tough. Those first few weeks are tough. It stays that way a while but it’ll definitely slack off after some of the anxiety dissipates.

How are you doing it? What are you doing for support? Meetings…?

Thank you so so much!!!

The anxiety, paranoia, and shaking are driving me insane.

I started going to meetings every Sunday. But I don’t know how much they are helping.

Thank you I’m trying my best.

You know how I know that you can do this? Because I did it. And lots of other people on here have done it too.

When I tell people who’ve recently met me what a complete disaster I was 18 months ago they don’t believe me. But I did it with the support of my home group, my 12 step program, my humility, my willingness and the connections I have with other addicts.
Maybe 1 meeting a week isn’t enough. Maybe 1 per day. Maybe a detox facility until the shakes lighten up. But you’ve got support here. And together we can move mountains.

I’m cheering you on Ellie! If you came here to post this, I know you’ve got that strength in ya :metal:t3: You got this!

So hard. I understand. I am with you Hard to shake the monkey off our back. You are not alone. Loosid family loves you

With you.. trying hard to get to day 4 over and over again.. frustrating

Find a good women’s meeting. Check out the meeting guide app (blue chair) and check different ones out until you find you’re people. It will come but you need to work at it. You’ve got this 24 hours at a time.

You can do this Ellie. Your life will be so much better without that demon on your back. Just do it an hour at a time. Go for walks, get fresh air. Stay connected here.

Ellie ... the anxiety is due to chemical changes in your brain due to withdrawal. They will go away after about 5 days. You have to make it that far. Then you will go through a period of euphoric recall. It's simply the cravings associated with your "good" memories of drinking. For me that lasted about 5 weeks. At about 45 days I felt the chains drop. After that I was living a normal life. A couple rules and hacks: 1) don't take the first drink. You are strongest at that time. After the first drink you are weakened. You have opened the gates. 2) play it forward. 4 hours of a buzz and then 12 hours of guilt and anxiety. Think about the last part first. Never think about the first part without thinking about the second part. 1 drink is too many 10 isn't enough.

I’m here for you if you need to talk :hugs:

Hang in there Ellie.. Candy and orange juice helped me

The more meetings, the better... it will get easier. :hugs:

So; it was important for me to figure out a. Am I an alcoholic b. Do I really want to quit?
I lived through numerous relapses and then finally met my match. Alcoholic became the great equalizer! I had met my match. I had to “step
over to the barroom and try controlled drinking”. I had Zero control.
