Just so glad I made it thru today. When will

Just so glad I made it thru today. When will this dreadful feeling leave? I cannot believe how being so clear headed can make me so sad. Sad bc if if all the stupid mistakes I made.
I pray so hard and I try all of the distractions techniques & some days they just don’t work. I’m just going to check this day off as being a bad day and hope that tomorrow is better. Thanks to everyone that helps and listens and supports me. I’m so grateful for all of you.
Blessings. Tomorrow will be better.

Glad that you made it through today. I had the same thing with my past. I learned to forgive myself, although I still have remorse and regret. I know that “my worse day sober is better than my best day using.” I ‘play the tape back’ and remember just how ridiculously crappy it was in my active addiction, and I’m just not willing to go back. Gratitude helps a lot with the sadness. Even with my legal issues - they’ll all go away, in time. :grinning:

Every moment is, can be a fresh start. I am taking this moment by moment. I have been feeling sad and remorseful as well while proud that I will be ending this day, s o b e r. Please be proud of yourself for choosing the path of sobriety. Go, us. Each of us.

Marsha, also going to add:)…I was just thinking that because we are actually clear-headed when sober, the sadness may well feel more intense. I was drinking to numb out the sadness, depression, anxiety, y’all get the pic…the poison made makes it all worse, of course.

For me as time went on things came up that seemed annoying or a problem but turned out to be opportunities to do the right thing or a good thing or whatever. The mistakes I made and the things I’m ashamed of didn’t go away but got balanced out by the other things. I wasn’t sad anymore because the bad things no longer defined me.
