Just wondering, how did you guys get through all of the "Post-Acute Withdrawal Symptoms"; like the depression, anxiety, and brain fog (my D.O.C was Methamphetamines), just adjusting to the much slower pace of life, without relapsing?I really need some suggestions, advice, Anything...it's kinda rough right now...I wish I could wake up and already have 1 year clean, under my belt; feeling on top of the world, healthy, just really enjoying life (Life kinda sucks right now, not to be negative or anything...it's rough)...
For me, getting outside and exercise are really important. Breathing exercises and meditation also helps.
I don’t know what kinda PAWS you got going on, but 1st I would see a doctor. They have some meds that ease symptoms. As far as the anxiety, depression, sadness… I worked the steps in AA. I got real with myself and surrounded myself with sober people. Took all the advise I could and did whatever was suggested. It took to now just a year to finally feel good. You have to do the work, and be completely and brutally honest with yourself and sponsor. But serenity can and will happen I promise you.
I used multiple drugs over 30 years. It takes time, I don’t have any other answer. I know after years of stimulant use it’s hard to find motivation and energy again. All I can suggest is fellowship with others and long walk, really long.
Long ago I was also a meth user, and I know it’s weird and unpleasant where your at, but @skot127778 is spot on I think. Hang tough and find some fellowship! Use us where possible
Thanks, Tim L, for the very helpful advice
