Does anyone have any experience with ketamine therapy? It’s being recommended to my wife and I as a tool to heal our relationship. This would be administered in micro dosages by a licensed health professional who is also an addiction specialist.
Sounds good, but I’m feeling uneasy. First, I’m an addict and this is a drug. Secondly, I’m fearful of the reaction I will get from what others will think of it/me. AA is my primary recovery program, and I’m not sure my sponsor and friends will think this is a good idea. I’m great at telling others what to do in these situations, but I really suck at following my own advice.
So, I guess I need help with 2 things. Does anyone have any experience with keratime therapy, and I need to “grow a pair” and be open and honest with my AA sponsor and friends. Thanks for listening. I appreciate y’all

Have you tried microdosing mushrooms?
That seems so sketchy to me. I mean lsd was supposed to be microdosed by a medical professional
Back in the day I only macro dosed lol.
Sent you a private message
Have you tried using drugs like a gentleman?
I’ve tried. I know the safest thing is to just pass. However, this would be under the recommendation and supervision of a medical doctor who specializes in addiction. I’m going to continue to research this before I make a final decision. It’s not scheduled until 4 weeks from now if I do it. I’ve been under anesthesia for a few procedures over the years without issue. This “appears” to be similar, but in a very low dosage. My motivation for doing this is to help in my relationship with my wife. We’ve been together 30 years, and she is really struggling with things that I did the past 6 years. We are at a crossroads with our decision to stay together or part ways. Regardless, I’d like for her to find peace. This therapy may help. Obviously I don’t want to do this at the expense of my sobriety. Which is why I’m discussing it here.
I have severe PTSD related to serving in the Marine Corps. I microdosed (very controlled, specifics type of mushroom that I grew) and it really helped me.
How on earth is this supposed to “heal your relationship?”
If we go this route, we do this together in some sort of therapy sessions
This is a tough one man. Good luck. Meditate on it and trust your gut. As far as everyone in your group knowing…that’s none of their business. Unless you decide to tell them. It’s your own relationship and sobriety.
In my opinion there’s no drug going to help your relationship.. if she doesn’t care enough about you to forgive you there’s no drug that’s going to do it for you..!! Being in an AA program will help you if you do e we hat your sponsor says.. and do it honestly.. if you’ve made amends and she can’t forgive you.. that’s on her not you..
Don’t mind me just passing by but I’ll try that ketamine any day
I don’t see an issue with it as it is very controlled and done in a medical setting. My wife is set to start ketamine in the near future after having it recommended by a psychiatrist and approved by insurance. Bottom line is only you can answer the question you posed and the judgement of others shouldn’t matter if it is being recommended by your doctor or
MHP. If it was junk science do you think insurance would cover and portion of it?
No way
. I would talk with my sponsor before I made a huge decision. And remember it's our best thinking that got us into the situation. My ex wife and I have tried mushrooms, LSD, meditation retreats the list goes on but one thing I realized is that I'm the universal problem. And nothing will repair any relationship the past is the past, I just finished reading page 98,99 read please. Your family will come back in what ever way God has it planned, Ket will not help anything, it will only set you back. But an opinion is an opinion, this is an individual program and as my sponsor says some times you have to set back and watch those die so we can succeed. One day at a time
I'm not for it myself. Too many dangers for you.
Definitely ask god for guidance. Definitely talk with your sponsor. My sponsor would ask me what my intentions are, and if they are coming from a honest place not colored by self will. That being said I have little knowledge on K, but seems like a few others had good things to say.
I dont really understand why a joint microdosing experience has been suggested. What would be the benefits?
Don’t worry about what others think. To thine own self be true.
However, I can’t help but go to pg 133 of the Big Book.
“Now about health: a body badly burned by alcohol does not often recover overnight nor do twisted thinking and depression vanish in a twinkling. We are convinced that a spiritual mode of living is a most powerful health restorative. We who have recovered from serious drinking are miracles of mental health”
Page 133 again.
“God has abundantly supplied this world with fine doctors, psychologists, and practitioners of various kinds. Do not hesitate to take your health problems to such persons. Most of them give freely of themselves, that their fellows may enjoy sound minds and bodies. Try to remember that though God has wrought miracles among us, we should never belittle a good doctor or psychiatrist”
Are there data available on its results? Your clinician should have something.
