Laying here in bed, in rehab, at 5:45 in the morning. It's day 17 for me. Don't know how I really feel. Need this change in my life but I just feel kind of numb. Feeling alone. Worried everything I knew, did, talked about, thought about, felt, liked has been all wrong in my life and if that's true, what the F$&k else is there?

Good Morning Justin,

That voice in your head that is questioning every decision you’ve ever made, the one beating you up, is your addiction. It is insidious. It is what is causing all the major problems in your life, but it’s trying to convince you it’s the solution. It is not. Drinking or getting loaded is just a procrastination. All the problems and fears and anxiety and depression are right there waiting for you when you come down, along with the hangover or craving, dopesickness or whatever.

I’m a 12 stepper. It works for me. I spent 25 years convinced I was hopeless. Now I have a program that has taught me how to thrive without alcohol and to live a good life.

The best program of recovery is the one that works for you. Whatever gives you the feeling of wellness that is greater than the desire to numb. It is not easy. It gets easier. You are not alone. Keep reaching out. This is a community of good people who are committed to leading great lives and I’m glad you’ve joined us.

What else is there? A whole new life. One much much better. That wasn’t a fu(king life you were living. We are not living, when we are using. Walking around as a fu(k up machine is all that was. People live real lives. Normal lives. Full lives. Not lives chasing a fu(king high and running from the consequences.

Justin it may not seem like it but there is a beautiful life ahead of you. I destroyed everything before getting sober. The beauty is starting over and building a beautiful life.

We hold a weekly zoom 730 pm est Wednesday’s. You are welcome to join.

Let me know and will send the link

Hi Justin, for me, I had to change my thinking around the lifestyle I led. I found it wasn’t helpful to pass a value judgment, but instead just decided I wanted something different. Being sober is so fun, full of joy, and difficult at times. But it’s better than the way I was living. Surround yourself with supportive people and ask for help when you’re feeling wobbly. This life is worth it!

I'll keep that in mind. Like I said I'm in rehab right now we have 6 hours of meetings a day plus individual therapy and electives we can do. Tonight iS yoga. Thank you!

Ha rehab schedule. Plus three squares and chores.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Busy is good. I came out of rehab with a busy schedule and regiment that I’ve followed. It works for me.

You know what there is? Feeling good! Never felt better! Even when things are rough, I go through it and out the other side feeling well. No more self inflicted illness.
