Let’s be real…. I just wish instead of “this is just a stumble” “you’ll do better next time” some one just said you effed up…. Pick yourself up by you boot straps n get back to work…. Sometimes the positivity route seems completely fake. I know I’m restarting after a “tumble” but jeez I’d rather tell someone tell me I screwed up rather than the hollow “you’ve got this”
All tho my active addiction I was called a screw up so if I ever relapse I would want some one to tell me some positive advice everyone has their way of going about it
Ok Taylor you F u cked up. Kick yourself in the a ss. What are you going to do now. Wallow in that pity party or do something about it. What you need to do is learn from that mistake and not do it again. Your here because you want sobriety. We all have been there. It's not easy. Now start over. Reach out anytime I'll talk but most of all I'll listen.
I get where you are coming from, but the positive approach usually works better than a scolding one for most people. It’s not fake, it is the way we can be supportive. You you the straight harsh truth works. For someone else, it could drive them further down. Better to be soft and kind if ya don’t personally know someone.
I feel that way now after a year clean, but in the beginning, all I desperately needed was love, positivity, and unconditional support, but instead I was shamed, isolated, repeatedly called a “meth head” by family members, and this was all while I was losing my mind during the first month of sobriety. That broke my spirit even further.
I think it completely depends on where someone is at in their journey, but honestly try to be grateful for any support at all! If it’s positive, the intention is there and they likely care enough to respond to you/ provide some input, which is more than some.
I’m 1 year clean and still do not have the support of friends and family I thought I would.
