If one of the 7 quotes below catches your attention share in a comment what it means to you and why - this is how it works, and this is how we help each other, and connect with our community, especially for the new comer that maybe is holding on for dear life in the last 24 hours, or the person that just came bac, or even the person that’s ready to throw away there sobriety today for one drink - I’ve been each of these people at one point in my life :pray:t4:

“I have my off days and sometimes little bits of doubt and all that but all in all I say, hang in there. Today is the tomorrow you were so worried about yesterday.” (Anthony Hopkins)

WOW! #1
“We are not defined by our relapses….”
One year ago today I relapsed after 3 months sober. I never bought into to “relapse is part of recovery” until now. My relapse made me go to rehab and that literally saved my life.

The only real cure for alcoholism is suffering...
My 1st sponsor said I had 1 of the lowest bottoms she'd ever worked with but my last blackout almost took my life and scared me enough to humble myself and seek help

“Addiction recovery is more than stopping, drinking or using. It’s ongoing process of growing and healing - mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.”

I used alcohol as a coping mechanism which made me more depressed and anxious. I tried many times to get sober just to relapse days or weeks later. It wasn’t until I started working on my mental/emotional health and taking better care of myself to realize that it was more than just quitting. From there I have been able to find and continue the strength to heal.

Zo which quote caught your attention the most?

#4 for sure.

The last quote, “Addiction recovery is more than stopping drinking or using…”

It truly is a continued process.

I love this, and that’s ok, I relapsed many of time in and out for 5 years. The book says if we are not convinced of our alcoholism that we go out and try some controlled drinking.

Wow that’s powerful, thanks for sharing, I had a pretty bad mental bottom myself, wanted to jump out my skin, my sponsor told me after a few relapses that maybe some of your gets should happen so you can stay sober if you really want this.

1.000 percent agreed! Alcohol helped me cope with everyday life because I didn’t want to or knew how without it in my body. Know I have a thinking problem and alcohol is not a medicine that works for that anymore allows acceptance in my life. Thanks for sharing.

For me it’s 5
If I’m present in today, all is well and I can handle things as they come
If I’m living in the past I’m most likely living in some resentments
If I’m living in the future I’m trying to play god!

I love this, I think about one of the first lines in “How it works” - Rarely have we seen a person fail who has throughly followed our path” I had to realize it didn’t say “throughly followed our path once or just for a few days” it’s a continued process for me working a program of spiritual action. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome, I love #4 - because when I was drinking, it was about me, not how can I be of service for anyone and get outside of me. I had no sense of that. Thanks for sharing Matt!
