Life after recovery

What they dont teach you in rehab is that after you get clean and sober, your problems dont just go away. Yeah the drugs were a big issue... But its the recovering from the criminal history, the bad credit score, the bad rent references, the gaps in employment... How can you hope to succeed when you spent so long messing up every bit of your life? I'm going on 18 months clean and still have ǰack to show for it

I agree. There is so much more to sobriety than just quitting it. I think it builds slowly by doing the next right thing. If you keep at it I am sure good things will come your way. I had a sponsor say to me once that you need to make yourself eligible to receive good things in your life. The best way to do that is not pick up. You got this!

Jessica, you’ve got 18 months sober and that’s awesome!
ya I had 3 decades of burning my life down in many ways, not to mention warping my mind and heart. It does take some time to build a new life but it’s so worth it! You can build whatever life you want now that you’re sober.

One more important point, to speed things up I suggest doing lots of service & good deeds without expecting anything in return. Unconditional acts of love.
Service is love in action. The more you do the better.
It really works!

Restoration is a lifetime process :sparkles:  :blue_heart:. God will do for us what we can't do for ourselves. You must trust the process. Don't pick up. Easy does it.
