“Life doesn’t get easier, but it does get better”

My first AA meeting I didn’t have the courage to go to sober so I drank before I went . What kind of alcoholic logic right?:joy:

I’ve been going for a few weeks now and I’ve found not only can I go sober, I enjoy it.

My personal alcoholic experience was one of hopelessness. Community and shared experiences have greatly changed my outlook on not feeling alone in this.

Can anyone relate?

As long as you went is what matters. I used to attend meetings stoned all the time in the beginning. But then conviction hit me and a good friend made it clear I was not practicing sobriety or recovery. Now I may only have a few days under my belt after months of being clean. But what matters most is that I am clean today and going to bed clean and sober. Keep coming back as they say. Life is journey not a destination as same goes for recovery. Unfortunately there is no graduation date or a day where we can honestly say we have beat this. I attend a group with a woman who has 45 years of sobriety and she said something that hit me hard. "Tomorrow I can throw it all away and pick up a drink. Which is why I keep coming back and hit meetings." Don't be so hard on yourself because its not about the fall but getting back up. Take it slow and don't rush it. Your time will come and you'll be able to look back in a few days to a couple years and say what a great decision I have made to walk this path. Best to you and keep moving forward. Own the day and dont let it own you. You are not alone.

Yes sir. And I'm just someone who knows that defeat happens but victories come when you get up. You got this man. Just keep believing in yourself and know you are not alone. Some may hide their faults which only hurt them but I know I'm not perfect. A good friend recently told me that our problems and the things we faced in life can help someone out one day so don't keep it to ourselves. We have to share the loses so someone can know they can win the battle.

I can relate in ways you can’t even imagine. Keep coming back. Sobriety is a miracle, and does lead to a way better life. I opens so many doors. Hang in there, and keep fighting the good fight!

It may take time .it get far better .one day at a time.meet makers make it.aa :dromedary_camel:
