Life doesn't suddenly get easier just because we get sober

We get better at handling life. I don't usually have any major problems. Been sober nearly 9 years. I have a good job. Brought my wife and 2 kids (now 23 &24) over from Philippines on 2/28/2019.
Everyone has jobs now and a DL. One has graduated from college, the other is going in this year.

My uncle who is 82 is suffering from Alzheimers disease has suddenly gotten worse and my mother called, in tears to ask me to take her and my father out to see him. Very emotional time.

Besides the regular problems that I have to deal with, i found out today that my furnace needs replacing.$$ Carbon Monoxide levels are dangerously high as a result. Had to turn the furnace off here in N Ohio and buy some heaters until I get this figured out.

I'm a truck driver who transports cars. I usually get home Thursdays before noon but this week it was after 9pm. I leave out on Sundays. Got up this morning and haven't stopped dealing with life's issues today. I have to figure this furnace issue out tomorrow and it's not going to be cheap.

I never think about drinking anymore. My head knows from experience not to believe the lie; that this time, everything will be OK. Because it never is. Whatever our problems are,
This Too Shall Pass.

Just thought I would share. I hope that anyone who reads this and is struggling knows that life does getter better. But we still have to deal with life's little issues one day at a time.

Glad to be sober.

Thanks for sharing brother Dave. As it is often said, we need to live life on life’s terms. Life is a challenge. It’s beautiful, but it can be difficult at times. Having a daily program of recovery makes the hard times pass a little easier. As is also frequently said, drinking will not make any of these problems go away…it’ll only make things worse!
