The 12 steps are not taught.
Listen to what she’s saying. She is not looking for a “different way for sobriety”. You are applying your own form of moral and clinical relativism to the A.A. program. Bottom line is that this is about helping a fellow alcoholic. Not waxing philosophical on the merits of doing nothing in particular as a solution. If that were so she would have asked something like “what are 75 various things I might do in pursuit of a career in substance abuse counseling while also attempting to get sober myself?”
