I agree with the meeting suggestions! That’s how I found my sponsor, some are better than others, but if you ask them to be your temporary sponsor first, it allows you to see if you guys are both a good fit for each other’s sobriety. I'm having a hard time with this as well..

I went to meetings and listened to people until I heard someone talk who seemed to have what I was seeking. It took a month or so to find the right person, but I’m glad I was patient.

To this day, we have a tremendous friendship and we help each other stay sober.

I went to a meeting and said “I need a sponsor.” Afterwards a woman who I had talked to quite a few times, who I really liked and respected came over to me and said “I need a sponsee.” She’s awesome.
