Loosid is great and I’m sure those that invested in its creation would like to make money. Nothing wrong with that, but as soon I saw the paywall I closed the window. IMHO part of what makes the sober community so great is that people give of themselves for free, just to help. I don’t know how that translates into real world applications though. If the Loosid team needs some money post a link and I’m sure many will give voluntarily, I certainly would. Thanks Loosid we appreciate you.

One way to help is to pay for another member's subscription.

Monetizing recovery and sobriety, like taking candy from a baby. Boo.

It’s not so much about the money involved as it is about the extra features it gives those starting out in recovery. A lot of work went into creating this added feature which offers a lot of tools to help newcomers and those in need of supporting their daily recovery. Also, this site in general is not cheap. Uses high bandwidth to allow us to communicate with each other flawlessly. Anyone here ever try and set up a site with thousands of users gathering daily to chat? I agree a donation feature isn’t a bad idea. Yet, have you ever been to in person meetings and notice how many addicts don’t donate when that basket is passed around?

Really? Only 1 part of this app has a cost. Everything else is free.

This app isn't associated with an organization. How else do you expect them to keep an app open? It's pretty selfish to expect people to work 30+ hours a week to keep an app entirely no cost. Who is going to take care of their families financial needs?

You described it better than I could. My tone probably wasn't the best...but I feel like so many here have a "gimmie" attitude; and I feel it's selfish. I don't understand how people think that a donation will fix the problem if they aren't willing to pay in exchange for a product.

P.S. where have you been hiding your wisdom for the past year by the way? Hope you keep sharing it with others.

Thank you.

I'm pretty quiet and like to watch. But some subjects, i.e., lack of gratitude does the complete opposite for me. Lol.

Hi all- thanks for the comments. Just to provide context…

Myself along with my two business partners started Loosid to help people who were struggling with addiction. I am a recovered addict and their family has been ravaged by addiction. We have kept the LOOSID platform 100% FREE of charge for 4+ years.

Millions upon millions of dollars to keep Loosid 100% FREE.

AS CEO I have donated my life savings to keep LOOSID free through COVID. All of my money. Not some. ALL. Yet it still costs a small fortune to keep Loosid operating. Not 5K a month, not 50K a month but far more. It may not seem like it, however there are teams of people coding 7 days a week, fixing bugs, answering support tickets, kicking out bad actors… you would be quite surprised.

Ana/Brennan/Skot/K Bradford- Thanks so much for the comments. There actually is a way to pay for anyone who does not have the financial wherewithal to afford SAM™. Please go to the Loosid website and click “Loosid Scholarship Fund”.. This is a fund we created specifically for these purposes. We would appreciate any contributions.

Brennan- if you are interested in SAM™ and do not have the financial means to afford it, again, anyone who cannot afford it can contact us and we will support you with whatever we raise in the Loosid Scholarship Fund. You simply need to apply if you do not have the financial means.

Thanks everyone. Have a wonderful night

I'm new at this and I am very happy with this app I am never alone with this app

really cant afford it

I used to spend $100/week minimum on booze. Usually a lot more. Then factor in money spent on hangover remedies and healthcare costs, forget about it. And if I could calculate the amount of time given to addiction, and give that a value? Holy smokes. I don’t care how much SAM costs, it’s cheaper than that.

Hopefully at some point tools like SAM from sites like Loosid will be included in aftercare from treatment centers, detoxes, rehabs, IOPs, etc. but for now it is being offered directly to the people who need it. It doesn’t strike me as a cash grab here. I suppose the alternative is to have this site become bogged down with advertisements for truly predatory companies. Companies selling the “easier, softer way”.
