Loosid Sober Tip of the Day April 23

Letting go of shame and guilt.

When many of us enter recovery for the first time, we feel shame and guilt for who we are and what we have done. This also happens when people relapse and are afraid to let people know they slipped.

What you need to know is how powerful you are for having the courage to make the necessary changes to build a better life.

The most powerful people in life are people who have the courage to change. You are not alcoholism. You are not addiction.

You may have alcoholism or have an addiction in the same way that someone else might have diabetes. It’s what you do to treat your disease that allows you to be in a recovered state… just for today.

You may have done things in your active addiction which were wrong, but you will have the opportunity to make amends to those who you have harmed and clean up your side of the street.

Congratulations on having the courage to change and taking the necessary steps to build a beautiful life. You deserve it.

This is powerful. It's the truth but letting addicts know u can do it, it's possible. I'll be 1 year on may 4th

This is where I have been for a little bit now. Sitting in the past, replaying my actions is not a healthy spot to be. Im grateful for resources today to help me move past the wrongs I've done, and try day by day to make a better life for myself and those closest to me. Just For Today I will do my best to move on, not forget my past, but use it as a guideline for better tomorrows.

Getting clean and dealing with mom guilt is terrible, but I can't change the past or my past behavior, I can only move forward and be a better mom today clean and sober, I just hope my kiddos can find peace one day whether I'm a part of that or not

Having the courage to change and taking the steps necessary for building a beautiful life, that's what it's all about! We get to live a recovered life. We are truly blessed

Shame and guilt ran my life for over 40 years. When I finally got clean it nearly broke me because most people I needed to make amends to were no longer on this planet. Then someone told me the only way to make those amends was to just do the next right thing. That's how I've dealt with the shame and guilt. It's very freeing
