Loosid Sober Tip of the Day April 30

Identify, don’t compare.

When we come into a spiritual program of recovery, many of us will find that we compare our stories with others.

We may feel we have not reached the desperate levels others have or, alternatively, we may look at our stories and think that we have had a much rougher time.

It is not our job to take the inventory of others.

It is very important never to compare stories, but rather identify with the feelings.
Look for the similarities, not the differences.

When we focus on similarities, we will invariably find them.

I am VERY guilty of comparing my story to others stories. I feel I have not had it so bad, so then why should I even be in AA.

Right there with ya.

Right on

I confess my thoughts on comparing my life to others. I would totally get myself all worked up and depressed over someone else’s lifestyle. How silly :upside_down_face: is that? If I just put my energy into my life and not towards what others are doing.

Also, it’s not just about comparing it was about worrying about what others are doing from good things to bad things. Basically I was very judgmental.

Today I can see the similarities in other’s. I can love them for who they are not what they’ve done or are doing. Good or bad. It’s all just events in life.
