Loosid Sober Tip of the Day April 8

Home is not where you live but where they understand you.

So many of us are confused or even frustrated why our friends or loved ones don’t understand why we cannot stop on our self-will alone.

Even more of us buy into what our friends or loved ones tell us about our addiction.

They may say we don’t have enough willpower. They may tell us to just say no.

They may also try to explain to us if they can moderate their drinking, we should be able to do the same. This is 100% incorrect.

Don’t be upset with them. Not even for a minute. Remember, those amongst us no explanation is necessary. Those not amongst us, no explanation is possible.

This is why it is of critical importance to surround yourself with other people who share your common bond. It matters not where we come from.

We may come from a beautiful loving home, or we way come from a place where home was absolute chaos.

Each day, remember that home is not where you live but where they understand you.

Find your home today. Connect with others who understand. Though our experiences may be different, the feelings of isolation are the same.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

All true.!!

True! Just for today!

I am really stunned ! Last night there was a disagreement in the AA I attend and there were 3 people out of 38 who were against addicts being and sharing in the meeting and this is what I meant when I spoke. God is Great !!!!!:pray:t4:

“We cease fighting everything and everyone.”

Today I’m content with all that’s around me. My home is where I am. No one has to understand me. I must learn to understand those around me. It’s this action that will allow me to cease fighting.

I’m the type of Alcoholic that would love to make my point known. If you didn’t agree I would argue until you agreed, ha!
Not today. Fighting our families and friends who are normies isn’t worth the misery and unhappiness. Let them be them. I can only control me. And that is done through the grace and mercy of God. God’s will for me is all that I need to be joyous and free.

God has a way of putting in front of me what I need to look at...and this is exactly that. :v::pray:

Great tip today

This resonates with me. I just lost the love of my life due to my drinking. I have no desire to connect with other humans but know I must not isolate, and that I should be open to making new friends and living a better life

Absolutely very well said. I needed to read this today. Thank You

AA is for whoever walks thru that door and is willing. What a shame that they could turn their backs on someone asking for help.

I need to remember this b/c it’s 1 of my biggest temptations…Others/loved ones telling me I don’t have a problem. I want to believe that but I know it’s not true. Also, I really like “Let go WITH love”. Personally, I cannot do any of this without God. His Word tells us that there is a roaring lion just waiting to devour us.
