Loosid Sober Tip of the Day August 18

Self-loathing is one of the biggest challenges so many of us share in common before entering a spiritual program of recovery.

Many of us bang our heads against the wall wondering why we can’t stop.

As we have discussed before, the stigma that we cannot stop because of a lack of willpower is 100% incorrect.

We cannot WILL away alcoholism or addiction any more than we can will away diabetes, cancer or any other disease.

The truth is, we can only stop and stay stopped through working a spiritual program of recovery.

One of the biggest parts is forgiving ourselves… and loving ourselves.

When we recognize it is a disease, it is only then that we realize that it is not our fault.

Thankfully, we have a disease that is 100% treatable, provided that we work a daily spiritual program.

Until we understand this, we will continue to think there is something wrong with us.

Just for today, take solace in the fact that there is nothing wrong with you.

Know that you are not alone and there are millions of people who can show you precisely what they do each day and every day to live a beautiful sober life.

You are not alone.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Loving yourself instead of criticizing yourself is a novel idea. I hope to get there.

Love this! I am the true definition of a pity party. I’m 13 days into recovery and still have my moments.

We did an activity in rehab where, if my name was in a dictionary now...what would it say? Then, I had to write my ideal definition for the meaning of my name. It was eye-opening and therapeutic at the same time! :memo:

I used to think something was wrong with me because I was an atheist and didn't adhere to any religious systems. Recently I discovered a spiritual system that worked for me and did not force me into any faith or worship of any gods. I learned that divine consciousness exists within us all, and knowing that, I feel like I can finally advance in my recovery with spiritual principles that fit my belief system. It's a sense of Liberation that comes with wisdom, and I work every day to increase my knowledge of logic and reason and in turn my spiritual growth. No matter what you believe in there is a path to recovery for all of us, and although it is hard at times with so much bible thumping going on, we are out here and you can find us!

You can.

Tell me 5 things you love about you and/or some things you're great at.

Congrats on Day 13. :tada::tada:

Give yourself grace. Know you're human. I think that will help you eliminate the self-loathing. It'll get better. But don't be too hard on yourself. The beginning of sobriety is the most difficult.
