Loosid Sober Tip of the Day August 20

Yesterday we discussed how it feels to be sober. Today we look at what it takes to get sober.

Moving from being sober to getting sober requires us to start working a spiritual program.

We have removed the ‘spirits’ and need to replace it with spirituality.

In 12 step Groups, this consists of Unity (meetings and fellowship), Service (to others), and working the 12 steps.

Whatever the spiritual program, you need to enter it swiftly. If we sit in the seat of sobriety and not embark on a spiritual program, we will stay in pain.

There are people who stay ‘being sober’ without a spiritual program for decades and, while they are officially sober, they have not worked a spiritual program and because of this, have not had the opportunity to remove the blockages required to set them free. We often refer to these people as dry.

If you have questions on what to do, ask in the comment section below. The Loosid community is here to help you.

If you have been sober for a while and are working a spiritual program, help the newcomers by sharing your experience below.

There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

I would reverse that. I moved from getting sober to being sober. That required a spiritual process. Most people can get sober. The trick is to be sober

I am not sure how i feel about any of this. However, i had to pray a lot for guidance, and strength to stop drinking. Today is my 1 and 1/2 yr sobriety date. I never followed a program. The struggle is real.

Amen!

Nothing changes nothing changes, 10 percent is drinking 90 percent thinking, if I’m not willing to work on my character defects, I’ll always be restless, irritable and distressed , by being willing to practice these principles in all my affairs,, honesty open minded, and willing, one of the biggest things is humility if I’m not willing to live this problem I will eventually drink

This app is really cool. Yea I like the reading it's got a lot of truth. If I don't work on my spiritual condition, my true inner self, I stay in pain. I desire to be liberated from resentments and character defects that keep me in bondage to be a sick person. Now that I'm in recovery, my perception has changed... I can see the difference from a dry person btw a sober person. And I am mostly looking inward to determine the difference.

It all starts with not taking that first drink or whatever. The only thing any of us do perfectly is the first haft of the first step. Until can we do that we can’t do anything else. The steps are a life time Journey not a race. We never complete them. At the end of my morning prayers I say,” please GOD help me to be a better person as you get me three this day, Amen.”

The first step is to make up your mind that you want to be sober.. and have to get sober to have a peaceful life.. start going to meetings and get a sponsor to go on this journey with you.. be completely honest with them and yourself.. seek God and turn yourself over to Him.. He is the biggest step.. He will see you thru.. if you let Him.. I remember my days of being a drunk.. I can look back on them and be embarrassed at the things I use to do.. I have to thank God for my sobriety and not being that person anymore.. You have that choice to drink or not drink.. just make the right one.. don’t let anything or anyone lead you to the wrong choice.. it’s all your choice..!!

Turning my will over on a daily basis is the biggest one for me.!
