Loosid Sober Tip of the Day August 6

Much like we can’t win today’s game on yesterday’s home run, we can’t stay sober today on yesterday’s sobriety.

During our active addiction, so many of us spent every day repeating the same rituals on a daily basis. It became such a ritual that we didn’t even realize the negative effects that were taking place as a result of our actions.

In recovery, we need to incorporate the same daily practice in order to stay emotionally sober.

For many of us, prayer and meditation has been a non-negotiable that we have learned to practice every morning when we arise.

Many of us do the same throughout the day and before we retire at night.

Some other activities that can set our day right are reading from spiritual texts.

For those in a 12-Step program, we may read 12-Step literature each morning.

We may also attend a meeting of likeminded others on a daily basis.

We may also reach out to people within our support network each day.

If you have not incorporated a daily practice into your recovery, there is no time like the present.

If you don’t know how or where to start, know you are not alone. Ask our community below for suggestions.

How did this tip resonate with you? If you already have a daily practice, share with the community below what you do on a daily basis. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Sober routines r a must for me!

I want to go to more meetings, I’m really shy and I’m often uncomfortable in crowds due to my social anxiety. Does anyone in this community have any ideas on how I can find a sponsor or attend meetings maybe online? I welcome any and all advice. Thank you

Loosid, prayer for now most of those I went thru treatment with have went back out. My daughter is my greatest supporter

Various AA intergroups have online Meetings such as with the Zoom App. For Tallahassee the main site link is:
www.intergroup5.org
And with Google searches on YouTube: AA Speakers

You could meet people in an AA group thru Zoom meetings. Maybe once you're comfortable in a zoom group you could attend in person. Tell them on the zoom meetings your struggles... I'm sure someone can help you...

I read the Sober Tips and do a short yoga routine/meditation in the morning called Salute to the Sun. I end it with a positive thought or intention for the day. I helps stretch my muscles for the day and start off on a positive note. I also carry a worry stone as a reminder of my accomplishments and to give me strength when I need it. When I am struggling I get on Loosid for support and to encourage and welcome others.

Although it’s great you recognize your anxiety, it’s important to know that everyone at meetings understands how you feel. You’ll gain so much more from in person meetings than one’s online.

AA keeps me sober every day. I don’t understand my addictions and alcoholism but I’m more understanding now than I ever been.
