Loosid Sober Tip of the Day December 27

Moving from being sober to getting sober requires us to start working a spiritual program.

We have removed the ‘spirits’ and need to replace it with spirituality.

In 12-Step Groups, this consists of Unity (meetings and fellowship), Service (to others), and the 12 steps.

Whatever the spiritual program, you need to enter it quickly. If we sit in the seat of sobriety and not embark on a spiritual program, we will stay in pain.

If you have questions on what to do, ask in the comment section below. The Loosid community is here to help you.

If you have been sober for a while and are working a spiritual program, help the newcomers by sharing your experience below.

There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

I’ve been sober for a little over a year. I’m in therapy, but haven’t gone to any AA meetings or even started my 12 steps. I feel overwhelmed.

I have been sober for about 3 1/2 years and I’m just getting started with a sponsor on the 12 steps. I am glad to finally get started. I’m already learning about myself - defining my higher power, writing out my drinking story is helping me get to the root of why I drank for so long. I’m finding it’s a process I can do at my own pace and the guidance of my sponsor has been so helpful already. As a bonus, he even had great advice on how I can run longer distances. I’ve gone from being able to run only 3 miles to running as far as 10 miles at a time. I feel very blessed to have found a great fit for my sensibilities and more regular attendance at AA meetings is bringing new positivity and stability to my life.

Meetings will get rid of overwhelming part... but... but... you don't have to feel overwhelmed

I’m glad to hear that. My New Year Resolution is self care, getting back to AA, finding a sponsor and finding my higher power. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Tammy, What I would recommend is doing 90 meetings in 90 days to figure out who you trust. And do your steps at your pace rather than feeling like their grueling. You Re allowed to work your program your way. After all its your program and no one elses.

No and stop saying that. AA is not the only way. My higher power was not coming for me and I had to self rescue. That's great that many of you can pray to some power and get "saved" but the rest of us are the equivalent of red shirts in star trek. For you to say the only way we can recover is a spiritual program is wrong and dangerous. There are other ways.

In part, it may be defined as believing in a power greater than one’s self. I suggest reading about the spiritual experience as written in the appendix of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
