Loosid Sober Tip of the Day December 4

The last two days we have looked at being sober and getting sober. Today, we look at what it takes to stay sober.

One big part of staying sober is to continue to be of service to others on a daily basis, both inside and outside of recovery. There is a saying that the only way to keep our sobriety is to give it away.

This has proved to be incredibly important if not mandatory. Working with others the spiritual program that has freed us reminds us exactly what we need to do so by helping others we help ourselves.

We also need to continue to work the spiritual program that freed us in the first place. In 12-Step groups this consists of working the last 3 steps every day (10,11 & 12).

The final thing is we need to keep connected to our sober network. This could be meetings, support groups, or people who hold you accountable on a daily basis.

Gift yourself today with these 3 important steps of sobriety. You will be surprised the amazing life you have in front of you.

How did these 3 days work for you? If you are newly sober, did they help give you more clarity and more importantly, the impetus to start your journey?

If you have been sober a while, did it help remind you of the journey that you have been through and the importance of taking these 3 steps?

There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Hi Sarah!!

Okay?! Hope all is well

My daily program starts upon awakening. I reflect on the 24 hours ahead. Consider plans that I must carry out for home, work and social life. Next is self care followed by Journaling, prayer, and meditation. Throughout my day I’m constantly being reminded, my intuition and guided force I call God, that I must be a kind and loving person. Also, I like to keep this at the forefront “how can I help?” When a situation arises I can respond accordingly with this though noodling around in my head. What a difference it makes for me… depending on what day of the week after work I have plenty of activities to attend that keep me busy and without a drink in hand. These events are from divorce care, AA meetings, dinner night with my son, weekends with my son, hiking. Helping others on Loosid or reaching out to another alcoholic. Dinner time, more self care. And finally settling down to go over the day-daily reprieve. This stage of my day gives me an opportunity to see if I was wrong at any given moment that day. Where I need to make an amends or put up a boundary with someone. Where was I afraid? Dishonest? Was I selfish? Self seeking? Was I kind and loving to all? What could I do better tomorrow? We don’t go into morbid reflection as that would be counterproductive. If we can we share this info with another person, a friend, a sponsor or religious leader. For me my Sponsor and/or alcoholic friends. Now it’s time to pray and or meditate. Lights out for a blissfully night sleep. It’s this practice that has helped me stay sober for 2 years now. Yes I’ve been sober before but what’s different is these principles that I get to practice daily with my God and other like mind friends. True spiritual awakening comes from within. I feel that those of us that make it are chosen by the Devine to lead by example. To rise above the desire to stop drinking and/or addictive behaviors. At least make the addictive behaviors healthy ones! :joy: Thank you for reading this. I hope this helps at least one person today as much as it does for me daily….
With love and kindness for all things earth! Have a wonderful day filled with love and peace within! Stay sober just for today!

MJ - love the idea that when you take away spirits, you need to replace it with spirituality!
