Loosid Sober Tip of the Day February 26

When entering our recovery journey, many of us want to get back everything we lost immediately.

A good number of us have lost our jobs or our homes. Others may still have our jobs or homes but have lost the trust of our family and friends. There are others amongst us who have lost our freedom.

Whatever the case, we come into recovery having lost quite a bit and we want everything back right away.

The journey of a million miles begins with the first step.

The problem is, we want to take the elevator.

The truth is what we want is the opposite of what we need.

We are not ready for the elevator. We need to take the steps.

The trick is to focus on enjoying the experience of every step. Every amend. Every repaired relationship. Every new job.

Eventually, we will understand why taking the steps is so important.

Taking the steps allows us the time to appreciate the life we are re-building. We will come to cherish it. We will be beyond grateful we never took the elevator, as each and every step we take strengthens our sobriety and increases our humility.

Then the magical time will happen when it’s our turn to show another struggling addict the importance of taking the steps.

Be kind to yourself today. Just by reading this, know that you have just taken another giant step.

Using the steps is how I have been able to stay sober and develop a new life for myself

Taking a step at a time if rewarding I used to be the one that wanted to take the elevator but the elevator led me to relapse today I know when things aren't going my way to sit down instead of trying to force my will because my will doesn't work so I'm grateful for my recovery today and I let nothing stand in its way

Having gratitude for each new day is definitely imperative to my recovery. Im learning to slow down, and truly appreciate what I have now before I want for more :relieved:

I wanted to take the elevator in the beginning but I am so grateful that I have such a wonderful sponsor who had experience and told me that they would mess up instead of heal the relationship s I lost with all my kids and it did take 2 years for one of my children to start talking to me again and fully trust me and the apartment I wanted I did not get because God had another apartment that was way better and more would I really needed! So I am grateful for taking the steps slowly and forgetting what God knew I needed instead of what I want at the time

I'm grateful I had a sponsor that helped me with the steps. Working the steps, having a fellowship with others in recovery and sober support, and always praying gives me a life better than I could have imagined

The steps are the way to freedom. Being kind to myself is the hardest thing for me to do.
