Loosid Sober Tip of the Day February 6

Yesterday we discussed how it feels to be sober. Today we look at what it takes to get sober.

Moving from being sober to getting sober requires us to start working a spiritual program.

We have removed the ‘spirits’ and need to replace it with spirituality.

In 12 step Groups, this consists of Unity (meetings and fellowship), Service (to others), and working the 12 steps.

Whatever the spiritual program, you need to enter it swiftly. If we sit in the seat of sobriety and not embark on a spiritual program, we will stay in pain.

There are people who stay ‘being sober’ without a spiritual program for decades and, while they are officially sober, they have not worked a spiritual program and because of this, have not had the opportunity to remove the blockages required to set them free. We often refer to these people as dry.

If you have questions on what to do, ask in the comment section below. The Loosid community is here to help you.

If you have been sober for a while and are working a spiritual program, help the newcomers by sharing your experience below.

There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Spiritual program for me means Church on Sun am. Only speaking for me!

And hey dry I’d better than drunk any day! Way to go!

Is better

Good morning family god bless all who have chosen to get order back in their life and be happy, free with a god of your understanding is the blessings we are gifted when we change.

Eric, welcome
I’m glad you asked. There are many different kinds of programs. For example, AA, NA, life ring, recovery dharma, refuge Recovery, smart recovery, etc. now these programs will give you the basics to start a spiritual program. However it’s up to the individual to practice and expand their spiritual program. For me, meditation, prayer, church, Native American ceremonies and lots of books are some of the ways I practice my spiritual program.
When I encounter a challenge in my life I’m learning to ask God for the knowledge, courage and guidance to solve it. The old me would have plowed through it and dealt with whatever consequences came afterwards. My self will run riot. I’ve turned my will and my life over to God. When I don’t know, I ask.
Hope this helps you get started.

I think it's important to not conflate spirituality with religion

NA and AA are spiritual, not religious programs. You are free to choose whatever a Higher Power is to you. The only suggestions are that it is something greater than you, and is kind & loving.
I believe that addiction is from the ‘dark side’ - a great method to separate us from ‘the light’. I cannot fight the darkness myself, but I can with a spiritual program and the help of a loving Higher Power. And that’s why developing spiritually is so important.
I have found that the foundation for this is in a 12-step program. I can’t do it alone, but we can do it together.

Try Meeting apps on your phone theirs always a bunch

I’m with you. I find nothing wrong with being Dry. As long as we’re not drinking and we are happy.
