Loosid Sober Tip of the Day January 26

There is a stigma that when you get sober, life, as we know it, will be the end of fun.

This stigma could not be further from the truth. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

When we put down the drink or drug and decide to live life on life’s terms, the world opens up for us.

One of the first things we realize is how much of life was wasted on our time drinking or putting substances in our body. Just a few hours a day for happy hour during the week, turns into 40 extra hours a month of quality time.

That could be taking time to learn a new skill, spending more time with your family, working out, meditating, volunteering to help those in need, the list is endless.

Take a few moments to reflect on how many hours were spent each week on drinking or putting substances in your body. If you are just starting out, get excited, as you are about to enter a world of more time to build incredible experiences.

If you have been sober a while, let us know what you have done since you stopped wasting these precious hours days and years that make up this thing we have called life.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Well, for myself, I spend more time with my pet and family and friends, being able to focus better what I need to do, concentrate better watching tv, sleep better, meditate better, be much more happier to do a 10th step that I prefer to do instead of getting Hugh or drunk... I have a new hope over 28 years ago that I can benefit better at. Thank you, linda

A little over two weeks into sobriety I find that I have more patience, more energy, and can focus much better. I’m surprised to find out that I love to write, and am about to start a blog. Very happy with my new life so far!

Minimum 3 hours a day. Maximum 15 hours a day. Alcohol consumed my entire life at one point. Now days I talk to a higher power, enjoy every second of my life here on earth, make amends with those I’ve hurt, spend actual true quality with family, journal, workout, read, color, and cook.
It’s truly amazing getting one’s life back.

For me I drank and used to get as much work done as possible until I didn’t get any work done at all! Today, I have time to help others, on Loosid or in person, I go to work feeling healthy, motivated, and at peace. I no longer have to fight the man upstairs. I hike, cook, clean, self care, exercise, meditate, pray, read, write/journal, volunteering, meet friends for lunch/dinner, listen to music, and go to church. I did about one tenth of these things while using. I’m enjoying my new healthy habits sobriety has taught me. Keep an open mind as the possibilities for a peaceful life are endless.
